Well, seeing as I couldn't get the anodized aluminum rings I need when I needed them, I considered anodizing my own rings. After checking out the details of it, including using one or more forms of (somewhat) diluted acid, clean-room variety tubs and clean-up materials, the room all this would take up and the mess it would make, not to mention threats to my lungs (fumes) and every exposed body part, I said (in my best Will Smith voice): HEY-ELL NO!!
So I went to Plan B: find an anodizer in town to do the job on plain-jane rings I can order from other companies. Getting the rings is easy; finding an anodizer to do it is not. The first company said the rings themselves were "too small". The second said he'd have to charge $0.25 per ring which is "too expensive". Most of the other outfits I wrote never wrote back at all - probably still laughing over the 15 pounds I told them I wanted done.
SO, I took the second responder's advice and started looking for decorative anodizers. So far: nada. Which means I'll have to break out a Yellow Pages and start hunting them down one by one, or start cruising hobby forums to see if any serious R/C enthusiasts have a local outfit that does this kind of work for custom R/C vehicles. If anyone on dA knows of a local Houston, TX outfit that anodizes small-scale stuff, I'd REALLY appreciate the name!

People are more violently opposed to fur than to leather because it's safer to harass rich women than motorcycles gangs.

I don't see the glass as half full or half empty.
I see the glass with stuff in it.
